The grazing table
A table people gather around, laid with abundance
A grazing table is not a platter scaled up. It is a landscape. Wheels of cheese and folded charcuterie, torn bread and figs, honey running somewhere it should not, all of it built directly onto the surface in front of your guests.
People approach it slowly, and then they stay. It becomes the centre of gravity in the room, which is the one thing a buffet never manages.
We have been styling these since 2015, first as Picnic in a Box and now as part of Graze. Grazing at the cafe itself, boards and gathering brie, sits on our menu.

What goes on
Built from things worth slowing down for
Local where we can get it, seasonal, arranged by hand. Every table is put together around the event it is for, so no two look alike. This is the shape of it.
- Artisanal cheeses, soft through to aged
- Cured meats, folded and layered
- Artisan breads, crackers and flatbreads
- Seasonal fruit and crudites
- Dried fruit and roasted nuts
- Dips, pickles and preserves
- Chocolate, and something sweet to end on
The styling
Two hours, and the table becomes the room
We style straight onto food-grade paper, then run greenery and flowers through the spread to match your theme. It takes about two hours on site, and we work around whatever else is happening around us.
- Styled to your colours, your theme and your flowers
- Built on food-grade paper, directly on the surface
- Roughly two hours on site before the first guest
- Your home, your office, or your venue
Another way to set up
The Graze, our mobile grazing cart
Not every space wants a long table. The Graze is our mobile grazing cart, carrying the same food and the same styling on something that can be wheeled into position and moved again when the dancing starts.
01
Smaller counts
It suits an intimate guest list better than a long table does, without the spread looking thin.
02
Tight venues
Where there is no surface to give over for the evening, or no room to spare for one.
03
A feature, not a fixture
It can be positioned as guests arrive, then moved once the room changes shape.
04
Same food, same care
Nothing is scaled back. The cart is a different surface, not a different offering.
Tell us the venue and the guest count and we will say which of the two suits it. Sometimes it is the cart, and we will tell you so.
Perfect for
Where a grazing table earns its place
01
Weddings
Welcome tables, receptions, and the long gap between the ceremony and the meal. Styled down to the flowers on the day.
02
Corporate
Year-end functions, product launches, conferences and awards evenings. It photographs well, which brands tend to notice.
03
Celebrations
Birthdays, anniversaries, kitchen teas and baby showers. The table does most of the decorating for you.
04
At home
Dinner parties and cheese-and-wine evenings. We build it on your kitchen island and then leave you to your guests.
Plainly
What we bring, and what you will need
Worth knowing before you enquire, so nothing lands as a surprise on the day.
We bring
The produce and the styling, greenery and flowers chosen to your theme, the food-grade paper it is all built on, roughly two hours of setup, and the pack-down afterwards.
You provide
The table or surface, and the plates and cutlery. Rental is easy enough to arrange, and an island or a counter top often works better than a hired trestle. Ask us and we will tell you what we have seen work in a space like yours.
How it works
Four steps, no admin
01
Tell us about the day
Date, venue, guest count, and the look you are after. A few lines is enough for us to quote on.
02
We quote
One quote, built around your event. Tables are priced per event rather than per head, so the shape of the day matters.
03
We plan the spread
Colours, flowers, dietary notes, and what surface we will be building on.
04
We arrive and style
About two hours before your guests. Then we are out of your way until it is time to pack down.
Also from Graze
Two carts, one setup, one quote
Plenty of events take the grazing table and the mobile coffee bar together. One contact, one arrival, one quote with everything in it.

Before you enquire
Good to know
How far in advance should we book?
The sooner the better for a Saturday in season. Tell us the date when you enquire and we will tell you honestly whether it is still open.
How is a grazing table priced?
Per event, not per head. Guest count, the spread and the venue all move it, so we quote once we know the shape of the day.
How far do you travel?
We are based in Garsfontein, Pretoria and work across Gauteng. A travel fee may apply for venues outside our standard range.
What do you not provide?
The table itself, and the plates and cutlery. Rental is easy to arrange, and an island or counter top often works better than you would think.
Can you work around dietary requirements?
Tell us when you enquire. Vegetarian is straightforward and we can leave things out. With allergies we will be honest about what we can keep properly separate on an open table.
Can we have the table and the coffee bar together?
Plenty of events take both, on one quote with one contact.

Tell us about your day
No packages to pick apart. Your name and email are all we need; the rest just helps us quote more closely.
If you would rather talk it through, message us on WhatsApp. We use what you send only to quote on your event, as set out in our privacy policy.
The table is waiting
Let us build it where your guests will be.
